Who We Are:

Real Mama, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation that was founded by a group of four women, three of which serve as the Board of Directors. As mothers and professionals, we women wanted to share our growing knowledge of environmental issues and the relationship between such issues and children's health and wellness.

Our Purposes:

Real Mama, Inc.'s purposes are to inform and educate mothers and families about how to integrate environmental stewardship into everyday life; to inform and educate mothers and families about how to achieve general wellness through environmentally friendly products and activities; to maintain a website and publish a quarterly newsletter and engage in various outreach activities, all of which are dedicated to Real Mama, Inc.'s goal of increasing awareness and conservation of the natural environment through our most important resource, our children.

About Our Web-Based Newsletter:

Through a quarterly web-based newsletter, we strive to provide information in a manner that is specifically tailored to meet the needs of mothers and caregivers, who, like us, are pressed for time. Our articles present a summarized, balanced view of issues that are of interest to mothers and caregivers, allowing them to easily digest and act on the information provided. Every three months, with the change of the seasons, another newsletter is posted. The information in the latest newsletter will be fresh and applicable to the time of year. Meanwhile, past issues of our newsletter can be found in our archives.

Articles in every newsletter are based in five categories: earth, water, air, mind and bodies. Our Archives are also organized under these divisions. Each article concludes with a list of resources that either served as sources for the article or that can provide those who are interested with additional information on a particular topic.

In addition to articles, we also provide information on legislation that may be of interest to our readers. Our Legislative Updates page provides a quick accounting of pending or recently passed legislation, regulatory actions and Presidential initiatives.

Our Resources page provides readers with links to resources and other organizations that address issues related to environmental protection and children's health and wellness. At our Support and Contact Us page, readers can learn how they can help us in our endeavor to highlight the link between many environmental issues and children's health, and readers can ask us questions, provide us with comments, and make requests for coverage of particular issues in the future.

Something To Consider:

According to the 2003 U.S. Census, there are nearly thirty-six million families with children that are under the age of eighteen in America. Imagine if the mothers and caregivers of those children practiced more environmentally friendly ways of living. Now imagine if the children modeled that behavior. With those actions, in just two decades America would have a new generation of environmental stewards, protecting our natural resources and the health of generations to come.
